Can you explain the difference between an inclinometer and a contactless angle sensor?

The tilt sensor and the non-contact angle sensor both utilize angular velocity to measure the angle of an object; the tilt sensor measures the angle of inclination of an object relative to the horizontal plane, sensing acceleration signals; the tilt sensor is a detection device for angular motion around one or two axes orthogonal to the rotation axis, using the momentum of a high-speed rotating body in a sensitive shell relative to inertial space. Detection devices for angular motion made using other principles that serve the same function are also referred to as tilt sensors.

The non-contact angle sensor, also known as an encoder, is a device that encodes and converts signals (such as bit streams) or data into a signal form that can be used for communication, transmission, and storage. The encoder converts angular displacement or linear displacement into electrical signals, with the former referred to as a code disk and the latter as a code ruler. According to the reading method, encoders can be divided into contact and non-contact types; according to the working principle, encoders can be divided into incremental and absolute types. Incremental encoders convert displacement into periodic electrical signals, which are then transformed into counting pulses, with the number of pulses representing the magnitude of the displacement.

Each position of an absolute encoder corresponds to a specific digital code, so its reading is only related to the starting and ending positions of the measurement, and is independent of the intermediate process of measurement.
