Tilt sensors are used for monitoring and early warning of landslides and debris flows.

1. Overview

Landslides, mudslides, and debris flows are the main types of geological disasters in our country, with a level of harm second only to earthquakes. They occur frequently and are widely distributed, causing extremely serious damage. According to incomplete statistics, from the founding of the country until the end of 2010, there were more than 3,000 large-scale landslides, over 2,000 landslides, and more than 2,000 debris flows nationwide. There are hundreds of thousands of medium and small-scale landslides, mudslides, and debris flows. More than 350 counties, over ten thousand villages, more than 100 large factories, 55 large mines, and over 3,000 kilometers of railway lines across the country are severely affected by landslides, mudslides, and debris flows. Since the mid-1990s, these disasters have caused over 1,000 deaths each year and economic losses exceeding 20 billion yuan. These data indicate that it is urgent to effectively reduce the losses caused by geological disasters. Our tilt sensors are applied to landslide monitoring, transmitting the state of the mountain in real-time to the terminal through wireless transmission, issuing early warning signals before a landslide or collapse occurs, allowing for the evacuation of personnel and important property, effectively reducing casualties and property losses. There are over 8,000 mining bodies nationwide, with a broad market prospect.

2. Composition of Landslide and Debris Flow Monitoring

1) We designed the following pile, with a liquid level sensor at the lowest end and three tilt sensors distributed upwards, with a control system installed inside, connected to the control system via RS485 bus. It mainly relies on the functions of two types of sensors: liquid level sensors and tilt sensors. In areas where the mountain is prone to danger, multiple holes are vertically set along the mountain's slope, as shown in the figure below.

2) Each hole will deploy a liquid level sensor at the bottom and several tilt sensors at different depths. Since the landslide phenomenon in this area is mainly caused by rainwater erosion, the depth of the groundwater level is the primary indicator of the danger of landslides. This data is collected by the liquid level sensor deployed at the bottom of the hole and sent via wireless network. The tilt sensors can monitor the movement status of the mountain. The mountain is often composed of multiple layers of soil or rock, and due to different physical compositions and erosion levels between layers, their movement speeds vary. When this phenomenon occurs, tilt sensors deployed at different depths will return different tilt angle data, as shown in the figure below. After obtaining data from various tilt sensors through the wireless network, data fusion processing allows professionals to determine the trend and intensity of the landslide and assess its threat level. Landslides are everywhere in disaster areas after earthquakes, especially landslides on both sides of major transportation routes pose a significant threat to rescue progress. Many people still remember the heart-wrenching feeling when the lifeline from Lixian to Wenchuan was interrupted again due to a landslide less than a day after it was opened.

3. Composition of Landslide and Debris Flow Monitoring

1) It can monitor the dynamics of the mountain, including possible landslide areas, the range of landslides, direction, and predicted disaster occurrence time.

2) A centralized control system, where all sensors are a single node, fully monitored by the Internet of Things network.

3) Our company's independently developed tilt sensors have excellent reliability. They feature full temperature compensation, dynamic compensation, etc., suitable for outdoor environments.

4) Simple and convenient installation, no wiring required, powered by solar energy. Wireless transmission.

5) Address coding, with an upper computer control system installed on the terminal computer, capable of locating coordinates and comprehensive data analysis.

6) Capable of issuing early warning signals before a landslide occurs, effectively transferring property to reduce losses.
