Application and Working Principle of HLI-106T Static Leveling Instrument

HLI-106T High PrecisionStatic Leveling InstrumentIt is suitable for monitoring vertical displacement or settlement deformation with high requirements, capable of accurately monitoring liquid level changes of 0.2mm. The instrument consists of a series of containers containing liquid level sensors, connected by liquid-filled communicating pipes. The reference container is located at a stable reference point, and any elevation change between any container and the reference container will cause a corresponding liquid level change in that container. By measuring the liquid level change, the elevation change of the measurement point can be obtained.

The high-precision static leveling instrument uses the highest quality pressure-sensitive components globally. The static leveling instrument product adopts a multi-point full-range temperature compensation process for the entire machine at -20 to 60 degrees Celsius, featuring high measurement accuracy, no drift, strong reliability, and easy installation. The sealed housing has good moisture-proof performance and can work continuously in an environment with 100% relative humidity for a long time.

1.Working Principle of Static Leveling Instrument

It monitors the elevation difference change of the settlement point by utilizing the pressure difference in a closed liquid. When the settlement of the reference point is zero, as the leveling instrument experiences settlement changes with the measured point, the change in elevation difference between the reference point and the measurement point represents the settlement value of the measured point, expressed through the pressure difference between the reference point and the measured point.

Factors affecting the measurement accuracy of the system mainly come from the drift of the leveling instrument sensor with temperature, evaporation of the system liquid, etc. For sensor temperature drift, a multi-temperature point compensation process is used to ensure that the sensor meets measurement accuracy indicators within the compensation temperature range, achieving field use requirements.

2.Considerations for Purchasing Static Leveling Instruments

The existence of so many different principles and types of static leveling instruments is partly due to cost reasons, but more importantly, each type of instrument has its own advantages and disadvantages. Even monitoring instruments from different manufacturers based on the same measurement principle have differences in production and design. When purchasing, one should analyze from the principle perspective based on the specific type of monitoring instrument, and if necessary, conduct some simple tests.

For static leveling instruments that directly measure 'physical liquid level', it is important to understand whether the monitoring instrument has the function of correcting the physical liquid level to represent the liquid level and how its performance is. A simple judgment method is whether the manufacturer allows the addition of various different liquids and whether there are specific correction parameters for the 'temperature-density' characteristics of each liquid. If it claims to have correction functions but does not provide parameters for users to input correction values, it is generally considered that the manufacturer's claims are not credible. Testing is the most convincing evidence; a simple testing method is to inject liquids with the same height difference but different temperatures and observe the readings of the leveling instrument. If the readings do not change or change inconsistently with theoretical values, it indicates that no correction for the represented liquid level has been made.

For static leveling instruments that use floats or buoyancy to measure liquid levels, it is necessary to understand how they solve the friction between the float and other internal components. One can test the sensitivity of the monitoring instrument when placed at a non-absolute horizontal position (generally, when not horizontal, the friction of the float increases, leading to a decrease in sensitivity when the liquid level changes).
