What are the reasons for data fluctuations when installing and using tilt, angle, and other sensors?

Sensors are components that convert physical quantities such as size and deformation into electrical signals, mainly used for automated mechanical measurement and positioning. The measurement and control accuracy of sensors determines the control accuracy of mechanical equipment. The digital fluctuations of sensors are mainly caused by the following reasons: mechanical vibration, power supply voltage fluctuations, electrostatic interference or electromagnetic interference, sensor installation and wiring, and sensor quality issues.

  1. Mechanical vibration can affect the measurement accuracy and service life of sensors. The higher the vibration frequency and the greater the amplitude, the more significant the impact on the sensor. Users can reduce the vibration frequency and amplitude of the equipment through shock absorption treatment during installation and use. For situations with severe vibration, dynamic inclination sensors can be considered.Inclination sensor.

  2. Sensors commonly use relatively stable industrial power supplies. For potentiometer principle sensors such as resistive linear sensors and cable sensors, if the power supply voltage fluctuates significantly, the sensor measurement and control data will also fluctuate. For some outdoor projects, if it is inconvenient to install industrial power supplies, solar batteries can be considered for power supply, or low-power sensors can be selected to reduce the sensor's usage time and sampling frequency, thereby increasing the battery's usage cycle.

  3. The environment in automated application sites is usually complex with electricity, magnetism, water, and oil, where electrostatic and electromagnetic interference is quite serious, significantly affecting the quality of sensor measurement and control data. Proper installation and use of sensors, ensuring grounding, separating sensor signal lines from power lines, and keeping them away from high-power devices and high-frequency interference sources can reduce the impact of the external environment on sensors. For special occasions with severe interference on-site, techniques such as software and hardware filtering or electromagnetic isolation can be used to ensure the signal quality of the sensors.

  4. Sensor installation needs to be standardized, as most sensors have high requirements for alignment, parallelism, verticality, or concentricity. If the installation deviation is large, it can increase the measurement error of the sensor, and in severe cases, it can cause measurement data fluctuations. The wiring of the sensor must be correct; if the signal line is mistakenly connected to the power supply, it will result in significant linear errors in the sensor, poor control accuracy, and severe data fluctuations. This can easily damage the sensor.

  5. The quality of the sensor is a fundamental factor affecting measurement and control accuracy. The cost of sensors usually accounts for a small proportion in the design of measurement and control systems, but their impact is significant. High-quality sensors lead to high stability in automated equipment measurement and control, resulting in good system control accuracy; if the sensor quality is not high, precise control becomes difficult, the risk of downtime maintenance significantly increases, and the service life is also hard to guarantee effectively.
